Rachel JB Weisman

Rachel J. B. Weisman is considered one of the most captivating matrimonial litigators in Long Island and New York City. She is tough, creative, aggressive, compassionate and highly intelligent, providing personal attention to each of her clients. Ms. Weisman is known also for her business acumen, having built a successful legal practice on Long Island with a satellite office in Manhattan.

Ms. Weisman graduated from City University of New York, Brooklyn Campus, Cum Laude and additional Honors and then Benjamin Cardozo School of Law in 1989 where she was Editor, Moot Court Board and on the Prosecutor Practicum, 1988, Semi-finalist 1988 Intramural Competitions, and a Brief Writer and Oralist, Jessup International Competition.

During law school Ms. Weisman also interned for Brooklyn Federal Judge Mark Constantino and was fortunate to land a clerkship position with the New York District Attorney’s office. Before graduating law school Ms. Weisman was offered and accepted a full time position with a highly respected boutique size law firm in Battery Park, Manhattan. She began her ten year association with Mound, Cotton and Wollan upon graduating from law school. From there, Ms. Weisman joined a small law firm in Williston Park, Long Island known for providing the highest quality legal representation and advisory services to corporations, partnerships and other publicly traded and private business entities, as well as individuals engaged in business in various capacities. Ms. Weisman regularly represented prominent law firms and doctors, specializing in resolving the dissolution of marriages, businesses and partnerships either through negotiation or, when that fails, litigation. Before opening her own firm, Ms. Weisman spent one year with Rosenberg & Estis, P.C., a leading New York City boutique real estate law firm handling commercial and residential real estate transactions, litigation, administrative law proceedings and appeals. It was such mentors that groomed Ms. Weisman for professional leadership early on.

In 2001 Ms. Weisman formed her firm, now known as WEISMAN LAW GROUP, P.C. that is now composed of four attorneys who handle mostly complex and challenging cases in matrimonial and commercial litigation, estate and social security, disability law. Special attention is given to help domestic violence victims.

Rachel taught as an adjunct professor at Merrymount University in the Manhattan campus, specializing in Business and Advanced Business Law. She also presented continuing legal education courses on Family and Matrimonial Law and recent developments in the law for Sterling and National Academy of Continuing Legal Education. Ms. Weisman co-authored (contributing a chapter), Inside the Minds: New York Family Law Strategies, Nationwide Book Published by Aspatore Books.

Rachel’s professional associations include being a member of the New York State and Nassau County Bar Associations, the New Jersey Bar Association, as well as the Nassau County Family and Matrimonial Law Sections. Rachel volunteers for the Nassau County Coalition against Domestic Violence and acts as a volunteer mentor to newly admitted attorneys representing victims of domestic violence. Rachel also volunteers as acting Judge to several Moot Court competitions, as well as coach to high school students’ moot court board. Rachel is admitted in the State Bars of New York and New Jersey as well as the U.S. Supreme Court, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit, the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of New York and the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York.
